Let’s define biohacking
To make it simple, biohacking essentially means what are the solutions that we can put in play that are going to create more longevity, more focus, more productivity, more health, and just overall better wellbeing. Tanessa loves to do this in a way in which we can measure the outcomes.
The importance of focus and productivity when it comes to building a business
Tanessa became a new mom last year, so her business had to essentially compress a full week of work into getting everything done before 8:00 AM and during the baby’s nap schedule. This meant she had to be fully optimized, fully present, and make every second count. So productivity is getting the big bang for your buck stuff done in the time that you are given.
Productivity and energy go together. A lot of times people aren’t being productive because they’ve maxed out their energy doing something else.
What is causing you to lose energy throughout the day
Brain fog is a major factor to energy loss in the day. Brain fog could look like the inability to remember little things, drifting in and out of focus, lack of clarity, or feeling overwhelmed and confused all the time.
Three things to work on to avoid brain fog include chronic stress, the food we eat, and of course proper sleep.
Stages of sleep and how they relate to different areas in your business
One of the best investments we can make for our business and our health is in a sleep tracker. Because when we wake up in the morning, we don’t have a way of knowing our quality of sleep. We don’t have a printout that let’s us know we have a great sleep (or not). So we do need to rely on something to help us see those actual numbers.
Tracking our sleep also allows us to find our circadian rhythm, and following it consistently. Finding a rhythm that you stick to is something that will really ensure you’re getting enough of both of the types of quality sleep that are contributing to your ability to have energy and focus.
How you can use your Chronotype to biohack your work day
The idea of a chronotype is that we are optimized for certain activities at different times of the day. It means you discover when you have a set time that you know you are the most focused to really dive deep into important business matters versus when you’re not so focused and could be working on other things. The whole idea of chronotype is that it’s about 50% genetically determined, but there is some room for wiggle in there.
Once you determine your Chronotype and start working within your optimized time windows, it’s fascinating how you really start to recognize what timeframes work best for you.
