Why You Can’t Afford to Skip Black Friday (Even If You’re a New Coach)

Why You Can’t Afford to Skip Black Friday (Even If You’re a New Coach)

Let’s Get Real About Black Friday: It’s Not Just for Big Brands

If you’re a health or wellness coach who’s just getting started or still trying to find your rhythm, Black Friday might feel like something only Amazon and Apple should worry about. But let me be crystal clear: Black Friday is a gold mine for online coaches, especially those with smaller audiences.

And if you play your cards right, it can be your ticket to snagging new clients, building confidence, and finally making money in your business.

So let’s talk about why Black Friday needs to be on your radar, what you should (and shouldn’t) sell, and how to pull it off without feeling like a squirrel on espresso.

Why You Can’t Afford to Skip Black Friday

People are looking to spend money. Period.

There’s something magical (and borderline ridiculous) about Black Friday weekend: people have their wallets out, credit cards ready, and they’re mentally primed to buy. They’re not just open to spending money—they’re expecting to.

As a coach or wellness practitioner, this means your offer doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to exist.

Even if you only make a few sales, that’s a few new clients, real-life selling experience, and a chance to test out an offer. The confidence you gain from that? Priceless.

Let’s not forget, this is how you start thinking like a real business owner.

Your future self will be fist-pumping the air when you look back at Q4 and realize you didn’t just survive—you showed up, you sold something, and you set the tone for the year ahead.

Black Friday is More Than a Promo—It’s a Training Ground

Here’s the thing most newbie coaches don’t realize: you don’t need a “perfect” launch to make progress. You need to start doing. Selling on Black Friday is like practicing for the big game.

You’re:

  • Learning how to write sales emails
  • Getting comfortable creating urgency
  • Understanding what your audience wants
  • Seeing how people respond to your pricing
  • Experimenting with low-pressure selling

Even if it’s messy, even if you only get two sales—it’s a win.

Because one day, when you’re doing $20K launches, you’ll trace your confidence back to those first 3 scrappy sales you made during your first Black Friday promo.

What You Should NOT Do For Black Friday

Let’s get this out of the way first: do not discount your signature high-ticket offer.

Here’s why:

  • It devalues your premium offer and the client experience you’ve worked so hard to build.
  • It sends the wrong message to future clients (“Should I wait for a sale?”).
  • Big-ticket programs typically require a funnel (webinars, sales calls, etc.) that can’t be crammed into a flash sale.

Your signature offer is the Ferrari of your coaching biz. You don’t put that on the clearance rack.

Instead, focus on smaller, standalone offers or limited-time experiences that let people get a taste of working with you.

What to Sell Instead: The Black Friday Sweet Spot

Here are a few solid Black Friday offer ideas for coaches:

  1. A single module or lesson from your signature program
    • Price it between $47–$97.
    • Choose something highly actionable and valuable on its own.
    • Great for showing off your unique approach.
  2. A live workshop
    • Host a 90-minute to 2-hour Zoom training on a specific, juicy topic.
    • Charge $47–$97 and keep the replay available for a short time.
    • Bonus: you can upsell at the end.
  3. An audit or consult
    • Offer a video or live session where you review a form, assessment, or lab.
    • Make it high-touch, intimate, and valuable.
    • Consider offering a follow-up upgrade to keep the conversation going.
  4. A mini version of your full program
    • Think: one lab test and consult instead of three, or a 2-week mini challenge.
    • Keep it in the $200–$1000 range.
    • Perfect for clients who want to dip their toe in before diving deep.
  5. DIY version of your current program
    • Remove live support and offer it as a self-paced option.
    • Works great in the B2B space or with self-motivated clients.
    • Can be offered year-round with urgency injected during BF.

Bonus tip: Add an expiration date, a bonus resource, or a limited number of spots to make it even more irresistible.

The Costco Sample Strategy

Think of your Black Friday offer like a Costco sample. You’re not handing them the entire lasagna; you’re giving them a bite.

It gives people:

  • A low-commitment way to work with you
  • The chance to experience your magic
  • A stepping stone into your bigger offer

You can even apply their Black Friday purchase as a credit toward your full program later. This turns a “mini” offer into a sales funnel.

What happens next? They’ve tasted the lasagna. They want the whole tray.

How to Plan Your Black Friday Promo (Without Melting Down)

Let’s be honest: nothing about launching is stress-free if you’re winging it. That’s why you need to plan now.

Here’s your quick planning checklist:

  1. Decide what you’re selling.
    • What’s the offer?
    • What’s the price point?
    • How many spots are available?
  2. Pick your promo dates.
    • Option 1: Launch during the traditional Black Friday weekend (Fri–Mon)
    • Option 2: Beat the noise and start your promo earlier in the week
  3. Create a simple sales page or checkout link.
    • Doesn’t need to be fancy
    • Clearly state what’s included, who it’s for, and the benefit
  4. Set up your delivery system.
    • Google Drive folder, email autoresponder, or basic course platform
  5. Plan your email & social content.
    • Email daily (yep, even twice on the last day)
    • Schedule social posts in advance
    • Don’t forget warm-up content in the week leading up to your promo
  6. Give opt-out options.
    • Include a button in your emails so people can opt out of the promo without unsubscribing
  7. Stack urgency and scarcity.
    • Limited spots
    • Bonuses that disappear
    • A price bump or deadline

Don’t Sleep on This Pre-Sell Strategy

If you’re planning to launch a program in January, Black Friday is the perfect time to pre-sell that offer.

What does this look like?

  • You offer early bird pricing for people who enroll now
  • You deliver the program in January
  • You use the holidays to nurture your new clients before the program even begins

One of my students used this exact strategy and brought in $6,000 during Black Friday—then more in January. That’s what we call a double win.

Just make sure:

  • You’re super clear about the start date
  • You collect payment upfront
  • You include terms and conditions (no refunds, etc.)

Marketing Tips to Make Your Offer Stand Out

Everyone and their dog is going to be launching something that weekend. Here’s how to stand out:

  • Get specific AF. Don’t offer a vague “wellness consult.” Offer a “90-minute hormone deep-dive to fix your fatigue.”
  • Create punchy visuals. Canva is your bestie here. Make your offer pop with bold, clear branding.
  • Send reminders. People are busy. They forget. Send those emails.
  • Use urgency. Time limits. Limited spots. Exclusive bonuses. These move the needle.

Avoid These Common Black Friday Mistakes

  1. Waiting too long to plan. If you’re reading this in November, you’re already behind.
  2. Discounting your premium offer. We don’t do that here.
  3. Making your offer too complex. Keep it simple, sexy, and strategic.
  4. Skipping emails. Don’t rely on just social. People need reminders in their inbox.
  5. Over-promising. You don’t need to offer the world. Offer one result. Nail it.

Final Thoughts: You Don’t Need a Huge Audience to Make Sales

A successful Black Friday offer doesn’t require a massive list or a fancy funnel.

You just need:

  • A valuable offer that solves a real problem
  • A clear plan
  • Consistent visibility during your promo window

This is your chance to build momentum, grow your confidence, and bring in clients before the year ends.

So grab your Google Doc, map out that promo, and let Black Friday be your gateway to a business that actually pays you.
