From Coach to CEO: A Deep-Dive Interview with Kendra Perry

Ever wondered what it takes to build a multiple six-figure business in the online coaching world while staying true to your values, your quirks, and your love of hiking? Kendra Perry, founder of the Wealthy Coach Podcast and creator of HCA (Health Coach Accelerator), sat down for a candid, unscripted, and often hilarious interview—with AI.

In this exclusive feature, Kendra opens up about business, mindset, health experiments (yes, including “frog medicine”), and the wild ride of entrepreneurship—all with the no-BS candor she’s known for.

Meet Kendra Perry: Coach, Entrepreneur, Mountain Mama

AI: Kendra, if you weren’t a business coach, what would your alternate career be?

Kendra: Probably something like a private investigator or even a lawyer—if I could skip the public speaking. I love digging into the tech side of things, solving problems, and connecting the dots. Honestly, when I’m troubleshooting a funnel or tracking down a rogue client sign-up, I get this weird thrill. I guess I love a good mystery.

Health Experiments Gone Wild: Yes, We’re Talking About Frog Poison

AI: What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever done for your health?

Kendra: Oh, that would be kambo—a traditional Amazonian frog secretion used in certain healing practices. Yes, it’s as intense as it sounds. They burn your skin slightly and apply the secretion. You get hot, your heart races, and then…you barf. A lot.

I know it sounds crazy, but that experience deeply changed me. I had been so disillusioned after COVID—disappointed in humanity, honestly. Cambo helped me shift my energy, sleep better, and come out of a really dark place. Would I do it again? Probably not—it was brutal—but I’m glad I did it.

Guilty Pleasures and Internal Deodorant

AI: Any guilty pleasures?

Kendra: Trashy reality TV, 100%. Love Island, Love Is Blind, Below Deck, Vanderpump Rules—you name it. It’s my brain break from the high-stakes world of entrepreneurship. I’m making decisions all day, supporting clients, handling a toddler—my nervous system can’t handle anything serious at night.

AI: What’s in your supplement graveyard?

Kendra: A supplement called bismuth—marketed as “internal deodorant.” It’s for reducing fart smells caused by probiotics. Yep, I said it. Transparency is key, right?

Who Is Kendra Really?

AI: Reality show of choice?

Kendra: I’d be on Below Deck Adventure. Mountains, lakes, and a sprinkle of yacht glamor? Sign me up.

AI: Human Design?

Kendra: I’m a projector—but I don’t really live like one. I thrive on work. I get energized by productivity, which is more generator-style. I like these systems, but I don’t live by them religiously.

AI: Favorite Sunday?

Kendra: Hiking with my 15-month-old son strapped to my back. Or camping. Nature fills my cup.

Travel Dreams & Soul Cravings

AI: If you could go anywhere in the world?

Kendra: Right now? Italy. Somewhere calm where I can lie on a beach, eat pizza, and just be. I’m a working mom with a toddler and a business. The dream is rest.

The Business of Belief

AI: You’ve coached hundreds through HCA. What separates those who succeed from those who struggle?

Kendra: Self-belief.

Everyone wants the perfect strategy, but honestly, every strategy can work—it’s just that most don’t work right away. The mindset shift from “this doesn’t work” to “this doesn’t work yet” is huge.

Building an online business is like asking a stranger on the internet to give you their credit card. That’s not a small thing. It takes time to build the skills, the messaging, and the presence to make that happen. If you give up too soon, you never get there.

From Flops to Flow: The Long Game

AI: What decision changed everything for you?

Kendra: Deciding that I was just going to figure it out—no backup plan. I didn’t have a kid at the time, so I could afford to go all in. But I stayed stubborn. Even when things flopped—and they did—I just kept pushing.

Weirdest Sales Call Ever?

Kendra: A woman once got on a call and said, “Aren’t you supposed to be a man?” I was like, “Excuse me?” She thought she was speaking to a dude. That threw me. So…yeah, gender confusion. That one definitely stands out.

The Passive Income Myth

AI: What piece of business advice would you ban from the internet forever?

Kendra: The idea of passive income from online courses.

It’s a total myth in this industry. Evergreen funnels? Not passive. You need good messaging, smart traffic, excellent follow-up, and constant optimization. And even if you get it right, that system has a shelf life.

Now, real passive income comes from taking your high-touch, signature program profits and investing—stocks, real estate, that sort of thing. But a course that sells while you sleep? You’ll work harder on that than you will on a live launch.

Overhyped vs. Underrated in Online Coaching

AI: What’s overhyped?

Kendra: Chasing shiny objects. Every few months there’s a new “this works, that doesn’t” trend. Webinars are dead, now it’s Instagram reels, now it’s challenges. It’s exhausting.

AI: And underrated?

Kendra: The basics. You still need traffic. You still need leads. You still need a compelling offer. These fundamentals never go out of style. The delivery method might change, but the principles don’t.

What Freedom Really Looks Like

AI: Freedom is one of your core values. What does that mean for you?

Kendra: It’s not laptops on beaches. It’s agency over my schedule.

I want to decide when I work. Before having a child, I had a ton of freedom—hiking midweek, skiing on a Tuesday. Now, life is different, but I still get to spend every afternoon with my son. That’s freedom.

The Truth About Kendra

AI: What would your audience be surprised to learn about you?

Kendra: I’m deeply introverted. I know I come off intense online—fast talker, high energy—but I could go a week without talking to anyone and be perfectly content.

I hate small talk. I prefer deep, meaningful conversations. Crowds? No thanks. Bars? Never. My mountain home is my sanctuary.

If Your Younger Self Could See You Now…

AI: What would pre-business Kendra say?

Kendra: “You figured it out.”

I hated the Monday-to-Friday grind since I was 12. I couldn’t wrap my head around working five days for two days of freedom. It felt like slavery. I tried forestry, I tried serving, I tried seasonal jobs—anything to avoid a schedule that didn’t feel like mine.

Eventually, I discovered entrepreneurship. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I committed to figuring it out. And I did.

It’s not always easy—especially with a toddler—but I’ve built a business and a life I love. My younger self would be so proud.
